The Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens offer some of Niagara’s most picturesque backdrops, perfect for capturing unforgettable memories and life milestones. The grounds feature 99 acres (40 hectares) of award-winning landscapes complemented by vibrant seasonal blooms and lush overflowing gardens.
Every season reveals new gorgeous blooms at Botanical Gardens, particularly along the many peaceful walking trails and through the Arboretum showcasing one of Canada’s finest tree collections. Find picture perfect seasonal displays in the Parterre, Rose, Vegetable and Herb Gardens, as well as in the Welcome Plaza. Designed by students from Niagara Parks’ School of Horticulture, these stunning displays feature over 80,000 annual plants grown in the on-site greenhouse. One hundred and fifty student-designed hanging baskets can also be spotted in the gardens throughout the growing seasons. Indulge your senses in the aromatic herb garden or relax in one of the serene sitting areas. A visit to the rose garden–which boasts over 2,400 roses–will underline why it is one of North America’s most extensive and most distinguished Victorian rose gardens. But don’t take out word for it. With 56 kilometres of preserved parkland found along the Niagara River, there’s an abundance of opportunities to reconnect with nature in Niagara Parks. Explore endless hiking trails, learn about the exciting sport of bouldering, discover hundreds of bird species along the Niagara Parkway, or take an unforgettable ride along the paved Niagara Recreational Trail.

Arboretum/Meadows

The Arboretum is the largest area of the Botanical Gardens and displays an abundance of woody plants. Stroll through the paved meandering trails to experience one of Canada’s finest collections of ornamental trees and shrubs.

Legacy Prairie Garden

The Legacy Prairie Garden exhibits the native habitat, meadows and prairie gardens found throughout Ontario. The one-acre space is the largest wayfaring station for butterflies in the Botanical Gardens.

Shade Garden

This collection of shade to part-shade loving perennials and understory trees are planted beneath towering white pine and spruce trees. Enjoy this bountiful garden featuring brilliant blossoms throughout spring, summer and fall.

Rose Garden

Spanning over two acres since the 1940s, the Rose Garden boasts more than 2,400 roses in 54 rose beds and 31 annual display beds. Delight your senses with fragrant hybrid tea, floribunda, grandiflora and climbing roses.

Woodland Garden

Woodland bulbs and perennials are the focal point of this naturalistic, low-maintenance landscape. Full of texture and varying colours, the Woodland Garden is the perfect spot to enjoy an abundance of spring blooms.

Crabapple Vista

A visitor favourite deemed one of the most iconic and stately avenues in Niagara Parks. This vista is at its most spectacular during its spring bloom.

Perennial Border

The spectacular Perennial Border is home to both shade and sun-loving plants of varying colours, shapes, textures and sizes. Sheltered beside a backdrop of mature white spruce trees, you can find a diverse range of new and standard perennials from spring until frost.

Herb Garden

The carefully designed Herb Garden features more than 500 herbs categorized according to use. Herb categories include world culinary, medicinal, economic, perfume, dye, beverage, homeopathic and aromatic plants. Spot a knot garden and sundial in the garden’s central axis.
