April 24, 2017

Niagara Parks

The Niagara Parks Commission is pleased to invite members of the public to the launch of its upcoming series of commemorative events, activities and initiatives to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation and the founding of Ontario. The announcement is to take place on Tuesday, May 2, at 10:00 a.m., on the terrace of Queen Victoria Place Restaurant.

In collaboration with the provincial government’s Ontario150 funding program, Niagara Parks has developed a fantastic lineup of commemorative initiatives and events with themes varying from nature and gardens to heritage and culinary offerings, all reflecting the unique identity of Niagara and its place within the province of Ontario and country as a whole.

These projects will touch upon and resonate with Niagara Parks’ overall anniversary campaign theme of “Begin Here,” signifying Niagara Parks’ importance as a natural, cultural and heritage gateway, enticing visitors to enjoy all that Ontario and Niagara Parks has to offer. The rich history, world-renowned gardens, trails and pathways and breathtaking natural beauty, provide the ideal starting point for visitors planning their summer adventures to celebrate this special milestone.

The launch will also be an opportunity for Niagara Parks to thank representatives from the Canadian Garden Council and Vesey’s Bulbs of Prince Edward Island for selecting Niagara Parks and Queen Victoria Park as the official Canada 150th Celebration Garden Promenade. The gift of 30,000 red and white tulip bulbs will be on full display during late April and early May to kick off the 150th celebrations within Niagara Parks, the province of Ontario and across Canada.
