Niagara Falls, ON – Curated by Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo and first introduced last spring as part of Niagara Parks’ Ontario150 celebratory programming, the bilingual exhibit introduces visitors to various species of mammals, amphibians, birds, fish, reptiles and invertebrates that are all native to Ontario. Panels and displays also explore Ontario’s three different Ecozones: the Hudson Bay Lowlands, the Ontario Shield and the Mixed Wood Plains, as well as the regions and habitats that can be found within these Ecozones.
With live animal demonstrations led by staff from Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo, the exhibit offers interactive elements and unique anecdotes about species that may be found in your own neighbourhood, as well as the important role that many of them play in maintaining and preserving our environment.
This year’s Wild Ontario exhibit will feature yet another incredible lineup of live animals all native to the province of Ontario including: a barn owl, American Kestrel, porcupine, skunk, wood turtle, spotted turtle, grey tree frog, yellow spotted salamander, bullfrog and more.
Admission to Wild Ontario is included with regular admission to Niagara Parks’ Butterfly Conservatory, which is open year-round and home to over 2,000 free-flying tropical butterflies. Stone pathways wind through a lush jungle paradise, passing by trickling waterfalls, exotic vegetation and the emergence window, where new butterflies leave their pupae and prepare for their first flight within the glass walls of the Conservatory.
