Niagara Falls, ON – Niagara Parks will be presenting an exciting lineup of March Break events and activities all along the Niagara River corridor, from Old Fort Erie to the newly renovated Butterfly Conservatory from March 10 through to March 18. Visitors of all ages will enjoy the majesty of Niagara Falls, alongside engaging historical programming, awe-inspiring natural attractions and locally sourced Feast On certified culinary experiences.
Wild Ontario Exhibit
Visit the new Wild Ontario exhibit at the Butterfly Conservatory to meet a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, both common and at-risk, all native to Ontario. The bilingual displays set up throughout the Conservatory’s newly renovated exhibit space provide thought-provoking facts and anecdotes about animal habitats, biodiversity and how citizens can help make a difference in ensuring the survival of these important native species.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to pet a skunk? Or perhaps you’d like to get a closer look at the rare and delicate barn owl. Wildlife educators from Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo will be on-site to answer questions and to allow visitors the chance to interact with these animals and other species including an American Kestrel, porcupine, wood turtle, spotted turtle, grey tree frog, yellow spotted salamander, bull frog and more. Stop in during March Break and discover a new appreciation for the native species that call this province home. Admission to Wild Ontario is included with your regular admission to the Butterfly Conservatory, where over 2,000 butterflies, including 45 different species, will amaze and delight the child in us all. Niagara Parks Heritage March Break Activities
Table Rock Centre Interactive Heritage Displays
Niagara Parks Heritage staff will be in Table Rock Centre’s Grand Hall overlooking the Canadian Horseshoe Falls throughout the March Break, inviting guests to travel back in time by trying on War of 1812-era military uniforms or operating a 1920s style printing press.
Learn about the fascinating stories and key moments in our collective history, such as the efforts of the “Famous Five” who were instrumental in achieving the right for women to vote in Canadian general elections in 1918. To honour the 100th anniversary of this significant milestone, guests will be able to print their own quotes related to this crucial step toward equality for all Canadians using a historic printing press.

Old Fort Erie March Break Matinees
Follow the Niagara River south to Niagara Parks’ historic Old Fort Erie and enjoy a family-friendly movie shown within the charming visitor centre theatre, featuring ample seating, surround sound and a large projector screen. Admission is $5 per person and light snacks will be available for purchase.

St. Patrick’s Day Highlights
Special Illumination of Niagara Falls
In partnership with Tourism Ireland’s “Global Greening” campaign, the Niagara Falls Illumination Board will light up Niagara Falls in green on Saturday, March 17. The falls will be illuminated with vibrant green light for 15-minute intervals at the top of the hour from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., joining other world icons such as the Empire State Building, the Colosseum in Rome, the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Nelson’s Column in London and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, in honour of the beloved Irish holiday.
Elements on the Falls Restaurant Niagara Parks’ Feast On certified restaurant, Elements on the Falls, offers a Niagara dining experience not to be missed this March Break. Open daily during the week for lunch and dinner, guests can also enjoy a festive St. Patrick’s Day prix fixe menu on Saturday, March 17, featuring dishes such as a colcannon soup starter and a Guinness-braised corned beef brisket entrée.
Spring Display at the Floral Showhouse
Included with the Niagara Falls Wonder Pass along with the Butterfly Conservatory, Journey Behind the Falls and Niagara’s Fury attractions, the Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse is currently featuring its spectacular Spring Display. The warm and serene setting is bursting with gorgeous blooms, orchids and exotic tropical plants, all accompanied by the peaceful sounds of singing songbirds. The Life on Display outdoor installation can be found just outside the Floral Showhouse, featuring repurposed vintage pieces, including a series of miniature Muskoka cottages and a charming replica train that travels throughout the scene, all displaying an extraordinary level of detail that must be seen to be fully appreciated.
