Dance with History
The Cool As Ice Gala is your night to dance amongst the first major power plant on the Canadian side of the Niagara River! From the most towering turbine to the tiniest detail, uncover fascinating stories hidden within the historic Niagara Parks Power Station. Then descend 180 feet in a glass-paneled elevator and explore the 2,200-foot long tunnel, leading to an observation deck at the river's edge.
The Niagara Icewine Festival
The Niagara Icewine Festival is part of the Niagara Grape & Wine Festival and takes place January 13th through 29th across Niagara. This year’s Niagara Icewine Festival includes a weekend Discovery Pass self-guided touring program, the Cool as Ice immersive experience on January 14th and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Festival on January 20th, 21st, 22nd, 28th and 29th. The Niagara Grape and Wine Festival is celebrating its 73rd year with support from generous sponsors, including the Wine Marketing Association of Ontario, the Grape Growers of Ontario, VQA Wines of Ontario, the City of St. Catharines and the Tourism Partnership of Niagara.
Chef Elbert Wiersema
Holland-born Chef Elbert Wiersema graduated with a culinary degree in 1985 and went on to work for recognized establishments in Paris, London and Bermuda, before moving to Canada in 2002. His culinary philosophy and style are firmly rooted in classic French cuisine with Pacific Rim and Caribbean undertones.
Chef Elbert incorporates the sparkle of Icewine, along with seasonal farm-fresh ingredients in his delicious Cool As Ice Gala menu.
